FAQ

01. Why don't you sell or install solar?

At My Solar Patrol, we do not sell or install solar panels. There are already numerous companies in the market doing that, many of which are operating on borrowed money with the aim of getting rich quickly through deceptive sales tactics. Unfortunately, these companies often won't be in business long enough to honor their so-called warranties, leaving customers stranded. We created My Solar Patrol to fill the gap left by these unreliable companies. Our mission is to assist customers who have been orphaned by defunct installers and to guide new consumers in their solar journey, ensuring they avoid the common pitfalls that others have encountered. We provide proactive solar monitoring, inspections, contract reviews, and service scheduling, so you can have peace of mind knowing your solar investment is in trustworthy hands.

At My Solar Patrol, we cannot name any one company in particular to avoid when going solar. However, we strongly advise customers to get in writing that the company selling their solar system will be the same company physically on-site to install it. Many modern solar companies sell the contract and then subcontract the work to installation partners (IPs) for the lowest possible price. This often results in subpar installations, roof leaks, and electrical hazards. Furthermore, this IP method leaves the seller unable to provide timely service when needed, and every second counts when dealing with a roof leak or an electrical hazard. To ensure a high-quality installation and avoid these common issues, it’s crucial to have this assurance in writing.

Investing in My Solar Patrol is worth every penny for the peace of mind it offers. We provide comprehensive monitoring of your solar systems and notify you of critical issues based on your subscription plan. We work with your original installer to schedule service appointments and follow-ups, ensuring that your system receives the attention it needs. If your installer has gone out of business, we assign certified nationwide service partners to your job at a discounted service rate. For customers considering going solar, our one-time contract review can save you thousands of dollars in the future. We ensure you do not sign a contract that fails to cover your system to the fullest extent. By choosing My Solar Patrol, you safeguard your solar investment and enjoy worry-free solar ownership.

04. Can you give me free advice on solar?

At My Solar Patrol, we are happy to assist current and potential customers with information about solar whenever and wherever we can. Much of our knowledge is available on our blog, where we share valuable insights and tips. However, to truly protect your investment, we encourage you to become a My Solar Patrol customer. Our services provide proactive solar monitoring, inspections, contract reviews, and service scheduling, ensuring your solar system operates efficiently and reliably for years to come.

Yes, there are other providers similar to My Solar Patrol, but not many offer the full suite of services that we provide. My Solar Patrol would love to earn every solar customer's business, but at the end of the day, the protection of their investment is what matters most to us. Your solar system is likely the second largest purchase you have made after your home itself, and ensuring its protection is our top priority—even if you get that protection from someone else. However, we truly believe our team is the best in the industry, and we are confident in our ability to provide unparalleled service and peace of mind.

Unfortunately, My Solar Patrol's monitoring service is charged on an annual basis and, in some cases, included by your solar installer, making it non-refundable. Additionally, other services we offer, such as contract reviews, are also non-refundable due to the nature of the work involved and their digital or on-site service delivery method. We are committed to providing high-quality, comprehensive services to ensure the protection and efficiency of your solar investment.
